Firefighters knocked down a one-alarm fire near U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose, a fire captain said Monday.
Rubber and garbage erupted in flames at a maintenance yard on Mabury Road east of northbound Highway 101. Crews had knocked down the blaze by 1:32 p.m., according to fire Capt. Christopher Salcido.
The blaze was reported around 1:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Mabury Road, a fire dispatcher said.
Crews arrived to find large plumes of heavy black smoke, which have since turned white, Salcido said.
The flames didn't cause injuries or threaten structures or vegetation, according to Salcido.
