Flight Cancellations, Delays Reported Due to Rain

Dozens of flights at San Francisco International Airport have been canceled or face delays of at least an hour Wednesday morning due to rainy weather, according to an airport duty manager.

As of 10:30 a.m., the airport had seen 82 cancellations, including 39 departures and 43 arrivals, airport duty manager Larry Mares said.

Delays are averaging 60 minutes but could go as long as two hours for some flights, Mares said.

Due to the weather, the airport has instituted a ground delay program that limits the number of flights that can take off and land at the same time. That program, which took effect at 9 a.m., is expected to last through midnight, Mares said.

Travelers are advised to check with their airlines on their flight status before coming to the airport.
