Former FBI Director James Comey Speaks in San Francisco on His New Book, ‘A Higher Loyalty'

Former FBI Director James Comey spoke at the Curran in San Francisco on Monday night at a sold-out engagement highlighting his book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership."

The book details the events of Comey's service as director of the FBI from 2013 to 2017. Among other things, Comey oversaw the FBI's investigation of a controversy involving then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's email. He was dismissed by President Donald Trump in 2017.

Rebekah Kouy-Ghadosh bought her tickets to hear Comey a month ago, before he launched the book tour. On Monday night, she turned the tickets back in.

"I think there’s a part of me that’s still mad at him for what he did with the election," she said. "I think he could’ve not said anything."

Everyone who bought a ticket will to the event will receive a copy of Comey’s book.

Stanford political scientist Bruce Cain says Comey’s takedown of the president, calling him unfit for the office, may be transforming the tour into resistance rallys. That seems to be the motivation for some.

"He’s really on to what’s going on; he knows whats happening, you know," said Lucrecia Fontes of San Francisco.

GOP National Chairwoman Harmeet Dhillon and former state Democratic Party Chair John Burton both said there is no reason to believe Comey’s book or his book tour will have an impact on the midterm elections in November.
