Khalif Barnes was arrested on Sunday afternoon for suspicion of drunk driving, according to CHP officer Derek Reed.
The former Raiders lineman was initially stopped for driving with an expired registration on I-580 in Castro Valley. After he failed field sobriety tests at the Eden Canyon Road off-ramp, Barnes was cited and released at Santa Rita Jail.
The case will be forwarded to the DA's office later this week.
Barnes, 33, is currently a free agent. He played for the Raiders for seven years from 2009 to 2015.
Barnes was arrested in 2006 while playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars for speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and expired plates. He served six months probation, paid fines, performed community service, and had his license suspended.
The San Francisco Chronicle was first to report the news.
