Former SF Teacher Charged with Child Pornography

A former San Francisco schoolteacher has been charged with possessing child pornography, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.

Christian Lancaster was charged in a July 14 federal grand jury indictment with one count of knowingly possessing and gaining access to one or more images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The indictment was issued under seal and unsealed after Lancaster's initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Donna Ryu in Oakland on Thursday.

Lancaster is currently in custody. Ryu scheduled a July 27 hearing on whether he should be granted bail and on identification of his defense lawyer.

U.S. Attorney Brian Stretch said Lancaster was a teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District until January.
