Fremont Police Ask for Public's Help Identifying Hit-and-Run Suspect Who Hit Child

Fremont police are asking for the public's help in identifying a hit-and-run suspect who struck a young boy riding a bicycle on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the collision happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when a man driving a burgundy Chevrolet sedan struck the child on the bike as the vehicle was exiting a shopping center on the southeast corner of Fremont Boulevard and Blacow Road.

Police said the boy fell and hit his head, but suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene eastbound on Blacow Road.

According to police, there was a "short delay" before the collision was reported, so when officers arrived at the scene, they found little evidence.

Police haven't been able to locate the vehicle's license plate, but say the man driving the burgundy Chevrolet was a Hispanic man in his late 30s, with a medium build and short facial hair.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Traffic Investigator Jacob Shannon at (510) 790-6800, ext. 3, or to email her at Jshannon@fremont.gov.
