Police are hoping possible witnesses will come forward after an altercation at a country and western bar escalated into a fatal shooting on a San Jose highway.

One woman in the first car was killed. Police have not released her name. She's the 23rd homicide victim of the year in San Jose.
A spokeswoman at the Club Rodeo, a dance club inside a sprawling building near the scene of the shooting, said that the confrontation apparently began with what was characterized as a "verbal altercation" involving four people inside the club.
The shooting was reported at about 1:15 a.m., and officers responded to find the woman and three other people in a vehicle near the intersection of Southwest Expressway and Leigh Avenue, according to San Jose police. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
While driving away from the club, another vehicle pulled alongside the victims' vehicle and fired multiple shots at it on southbound Highway 87 just north of Interstate Highway 280, police Officer Jermaine Thomas said.
No one else in the vehicle was injured, according to Thomas.
No one has been arrested in connection in the shooting, and no description of the suspects or the suspect vehicle was immediately available.
