“Lover's Triangle” Has Near-Death Experience

Why can't we all just get along?

A man and woman were shot outside a funeral home in Fremont Tuesday night in what investigators believe was connected to a "lover's  triangle," according to a statement released this morning by police.

The victims were shot at about 8:45 p.m. as they left a funeral service at the Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels Mortuary at 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont police Lt. John Liu said. Witnesses later told responding officers that the suspected shooters left the scene in two different vehicles, escaping north on Fremont Boulevard.

Police believe that the shooting was the result of a lover's triangle involving the two victims and the suspected shooters, all of whom are likely to have known each other. In this morning's statement, police said investigators have strong leads in the case that they will be following  throughout the morning. No further information regarding the suspects was released.

The man and woman who were shot are expected to survive, Liu said. The two were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or the parties involved is asked to contact the Fremont police investigative unit at 510-790-6972.
