Good Grief: Great Pumpkin Shortage Averted

Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner. That's great news for people with a sweet tooth.

But one holiday staple that has been threatened in years past will be back in abundance this year.

Last year bad weather caused a pumpkin shortage across the country that mostly effected canned pumpkins.

Kids everywhere were taught the valuable lesson of being thankful for having scary jack-o-lanterns to run away from while overeaters were not able to eat as much pumpkin pie as they would like.

But this year, feel free to carve an extra notch into your favorite belt. Nestle, the largest seller of canned pumpkin in the country, says the shortage is over and the company expects there to be plenty of pumpkin to go around, and down.

That's also good news for California's economy. The state is one of the top pumpkin-producing states in the country.
