San Jose will have to wait on Google Fiber. The Internet giant's promise to bring 1 gigabyte-per-second Internet access to American cities is coming slowly, just a few cities at a time.
And San Jose won't be in an initial batch of fast-Internet places, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Google last week said that "it needs more time" to decide if San Jose is the right fit, according to the newspaper.
Other cities that are in competition include Atlanta, Charlotte and Phoenix, the newspaper reported.
Despite San Francisco and San Jose's close proximity to Silicon Valley, widespread fast Internet access is still lacking.
