Google Nexus S to Land in the US Dec. 16

As if we didn't already know that the Google Nexus S was going to be announced sooner or later. Well, if you've been holding out for a shiny new Android smartphone with the latest 2.3 Gingerbread software, then today's your lucky day — the Google Nexus S is official.

Concrete specs for the Google Nexus S are as follows: 1GHz processor, 16GB of storage, 512MB of RAM (same as iPhone 4), 4-inch Super AMOLED screen with 800 x 480 resolution screen, 5-megapixel camera, front facing camera (for video chat or looking at yourself) NFC electronic money and a "curved" screen.

What's the deal with the curved glass screen ya say? Dubbed the "Contour Display," it's supposed to make holding your smartphone up to your ear comfier. Sounds like a plan, I never did like the way my blocky iPhone 4 hugged my cheeks. I'm always pressing it into my ear.

The Google Nexus S will be available unlocked in the U.S. on December 16. It'll be sold through Best Buy retails and work on T-Mobile. Looks like the old magenta company still has some legs. Pricing has not been announced. If the prices within the last few years are any indication, I'd price the Google Nexus S at around $499 for an unlocked model and $199 for a subsidized one. Those seem to be the sweet spots.
