Half Moon Bay Police Seek Suspect in Robbery, Carjacking

San Mateo County Sheriff's Office investigators were looking for three men in a blue BMW X3 SUV who are suspects in a robbery and carjacking outside a Wells Fargo Bank ATM in Half Moon Bay Friday night.

According to Detective Rosemerry Blankswade, a man was withdrawing cash from an ATM at Wells Fargo on 132 San Mateo Road in Half Moon Bay around 8 p.m. when a black man brandishing a handgun came up to him and demanded cash and the keys to his BMW. The victim complied, and saw two other men in his car as it peeled out, Blankswade said.

A be-on-the-lookout was broadcast, and neighboring police agencies saw the BMW a short while later heading eastbound on state Highway 92 passing the El Camino Real in San Mateo. The BMW was pursued across the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, but officers ultimately lost sight of the car as it entered the city streets of Hayward, Blankswade said.

It is believed a green Honda with unknown license plates, being driven by an unknown black man, was also involved, she said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Half Moon Bay substation at (650) 726-8288. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call (800) 547-2700.
