The Hall of Justice in San Francisco was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a female inmate escaped, sources told NBC Bay Area.
Officials said the lockdown was lifted after the inmate was found. The inmate got away from officers for a short while inside the Hall of Justice at 850 Bryant St.
Sheriff's officials said they were investigating a security incident at the building but declined to elaborate.
San Francisco District Attorney's Office spokesman Max Szabo wrote on Twitter that the incident was a "female inmate allegedly loose inside the HOJ."
No other information about the incident was immediately available.
