At least 26 people were reported sick on Friday at Recology Recyling Center on Pier 96 in SF, the fire department said, with two of those people taken to the hospital.
Fire spokesman John Baxter said they complained of shortness of breath, itchy skin and rashes.
He said some sort of hazardous material came from a product that went through the trash line. A few employees told NBC Bay Area that as a result, some people vomited and getting sick.
The call came in at 7:42 a.m.
Recology is located at 1000 Amador Street, near the bay in Indian Basin.
