Hercules Hit-and-Run Caught on Camera

A passing bus captured video of an SUV running into a 70-year-old pedestrian

Police are asking for the public’s help finding a hit-and-run driver in the East Bay.

The incident happened last Friday around 6:20 a.m. on Willow Avenue, just yards from the Hercules police station.

The collision was caught on camera by a passing bus. You can watch the video here.

The video shows a pedestrian, later identified by police as a 70-year-old man, walking across the street, when an SUV suddenly lunged forward, knocking the man to the ground.

Witnesses say the driver stopped, got out, and approached the victim. Then the driver returned to his car, backed up, drove around the victim, and took off.

The victim suffered a serious head injury but is OK. He has since been released from the hospital.
