Holiday Ice Rink in SF's Union Square Opens

More signs of the holiday season are popping up across the Bay Area.

In San Francisco on Wednesday, Giants mascot Lou Seal broke the ice for the opening of the annual Safeway Holiday Ice rink in Union Square.

Olympian Brian Boitano also was on hand to offer some skating tips.

The rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. through Jan. 21. Ninety-minute sessions begin on every even hour.

Tickets are $18 for general admission and $13 for children 8 and under, and the price includes skate rentals. They can be purchased at the venue starting at 9:45 a.m., or a limited number of tickets are available online.

NBC Bay Area and Telemundo are proud sponsors of the rink, along with Safeway and Alaska Airlines.
