Hot Air Balloon Makes Emergency Landing Near Vallejo

High winds reportedly blowing a hot air balloon toward power lines forced the pilot of the balloon carrying a dozen people to make an emergency landing in a marshy area near Vallejo Sunday morning, according to officials.

At least one person reportedly suffered minor injuries, but everyone else aboard the hot air balloon appeared to escape unharmed, officials said.

The hot air balloon was carrying 11 passengers and one pilot, according to John Ha, the EMS Coordinator for the Vallejo Fire Department.

After the balloon went down, the people aboard were transported by a helicopter to a safe spot to be checked out by first responders, according to Ha.

Fire officials initially reported that the hot air balloon crashed before reporting that they were told by the pilot that the incident was an emergency landing.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
