HP Gives TouchPad One Last Run

HP vows another TouchPad run before retirement

Hewlett-Packard says it's making one last run of its TouchPad tablet computer before the device is officially retired again.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company cited "stunning" demand for the tablet following a big price drop earlier this month after CEO Leo Apotheker said the company was exiting the tablet and smartphone business to focus more on selling to corporations.

The tablet was a dud with consumers at $499 and $599, but a hit at $99 and $149, depending on the size of memory.

On Monday, HP announced on a corporate blog that it will produce "one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand," and that it would be at least a few weeks until they're available.
