ID Of Naked Woman Will Take Weeks

ID of Naked Woman Long In Coming

It may take two months to determine the cause of death for a woman found naked and unconscious beneath an Oakland freeway

Jan. 12, a deputy sheriff with the Alameda County coroner's bureau said today.

Deputy Sheriff R. Gonzalez said an initial autopsy did not indicate a clear cause of death, so the bureau ordered additional testing from

outside labs. Those results are expected around March 14, he said.

The coroner's bureau has not located any family connected to the woman, Gonzales said, although they will continue searching. Police

are unable to release the woman's name until they contact next of kin.

The woman was found around 4 p.m. naked and unconscious beneath a freeway overpass in the 3300 block of E. Eighth Street, near

Fruitvale Avenue. She was transported to the hospital, Oakland police said, and pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m.

The Oakland Police Department's homicide unit is investigating the case.
