Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Plans Speaking Engagement in San Jose

Narendra Modi will be the first Prime Minister of India to visit the Bay Area in 66 years when he comes to San Jose in September.

Modi has a scheduled speaking engagement at SAP Center on September 27, according to The Hindu.

The publication noted that the last time an Indian Prime Minister came to the Bay Area was in 1949.

Tickets are not currently available on the SAP Center website, but there may be a different system for distributing tickets that has yet to be announced.

The nearly 18,000 people who attended Modi's September 2014 appearance at the similarly-sized Madison Square Garden in New York City were given tickets for free via a lottery, reported Time.
