Westbound Interstate 580 in Castro Valley has reopened after police temporarily shut down the freeway to investigate a shooting.
At about 4 p.m., five to six shots were fired on the freeway near the 164th Street exit in San Leandro, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At least one vehicle was struck in the shooting, police said. Bullet holes can be seen on the vehicle's windshield and near the driver's side door.
No injuries have been reported and police do not have a suspect vehicle description.
The temporary closure in Castro Valley extended to Interstate 238 and turned the freeway into a parking lot.
The freeway was reopened by 5:45 p.m.
