Italian Woman Identified as Victim of Fatal Collision on Interstate 80 On-Ramp

A woman from Rome who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning on an on-ramp to Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco was identified Monday by the San Francisco medical examiner's office.

Monica Aghetoni, 46, was killed when a car hit her on the Fifth Street on-ramp to eastbound Highway 80. A Sig-alert was issued at about 5:50 a.m. as a result of the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Aghetoni was hit by one car and as her body was in the roadway, other vehicles hit her, CHP officials said.

The driver of the first vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The drivers of the other vehicles may not have realized they struck her, CHP spokesman Officer Vu Williams said.
