Jamba Juice Hires 500 Bay Area Youth

Emeryville-based Jamba Juice is hosting its second National Hiring Day initiative Tuesday in stores nationwide. The company will hire 500 Bay Area youth, with a total of 3,500 positions nationwide looking to be filled.

The event was jumpstarted on Monday by Jamba President, Chairman and CEO James D. White at the San Francisco Treasure Island Job Corps Center. This is the second year that the company has teamed up with Job Corps to help local students get a head start on summer employment.

The Job Corps program is sponsored by the United States Department of Labor and is aimed toward providing low-income youth with free education and vocational training. Jamba’s hiring efforts are a part of the department’s larger “Summer Jobs +” initiative that aims to provide disadvantaged young people with life skills, work skills, and the opportunity to learn and earn.

Jamba’s first hiring day in 2012 sought to hire 2,500 youth for summer positions and instead hired nearly 6,000, greatly exceeding their pledge.

The company is primarily looking for team member and administrative positions to be filled. Interviews begin today in 100 stores across the country from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Participating job fair locations can be found here.
