Pop star Janelle Monáe will speak and sing against police brutality at a San Francisco rally this weekend.

The acclaimed recording artist and performer, joined by her protégé Jidenna and artist collective Wondaland, will appear at a press conference and rally Sunday at 24th and Mission streets in San Francisco. A similar event was planned for Friday in Los Angeles.

According to the San Francisco rally's Facebook event page, Monáe, Jidenna and Wondaland plan to perform a song called "Hell You Talm Bout," which recognizes victims murdered by police.

Sunday's gathering is being organized by the Bay Area Stop Mass Incarceration Network.

Though she hails from Kansas and came to prominence in the Atlanta music scene, San Francisco is a special region for Monáe, who has performed at City Hall and with the San Francisco Symphony.
