K9 Competition Features Police Dog Takedowns

Petaluma loves their dogs, whether ugly or deadly

Probably better known for it's annual "World's Ugliest Dog" contest, the town of Petaluma in Sonoma County also hosts an annual police dog competition today.

Dogs from departments across the state will navigate an obstacle course, sniff for contraband and obey commands.

But according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, the crowd's favorite is when dogs are set loose on "suspects" in order to threaten them into submission.

So bring the kids!

Concession revenue at the otherwise free event goes to benefit the town's canine unit.

Jackson West thinks bomb-sniffing cats would be cuter, if alarmingly indifferent.
