Kissing in Public for a Cause

Gay and lesbian couples being affectionate towards each other is nothing new in San Francisco's Castro district.

But on Monday May 17, there will be a purpose behind -- and some order -- to the madness, according to our friends at SF Weekly.

To commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, gay couples will lock lips at Harvey Milk Plaza in San Francisco on May 17.

The day also marks the date in 1992 when the Word Health Organization declared that being gay is not a disease.

The event is part of a global effort called the "Great Global Kiss-In" and the scene in the Castro will be commemorated in cities everywhere.

If your too shy to kiss in public, hand-holders and huggers are more than welcome to attend.
