Kitchen Quarrel Leads to Cleaver Attack

Man slashes co-worker with meat cleaver: police

Palo Alto police are on the lookout morning for a man accused of attacking a co-worker with a meat cleaver.

It happened at the Jade Palace on California Avenue just after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses say two employees got into some sort of argument in the kitchen area of the restaurant and one man slashed the other in the face and torso several times with a cleaver, the Mercury News reports.

Richard Reyes, the owner of a neighboring business, ran over to the restaurant when he heard screaming coming from the area. He found the blood-covered victim at the gruesome scene in the kitchen.

"It was all over the place. It was all over his back," Reyes told the paper, "You could see some of his muscles hanging out."

The victim lost a lot of blood but is expected to survive.

The attacker took off and so far has not been found.

Police say they believe the attacker is an Asian man about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, and was wearing a chef's shirt and dark pants and might go by the name Michael Chen, Chen Chun or Chun Chen police said.
