Kite Events Make Summer Comeback in Bay Area

While it might not be usual to wish for windy days, a lot of Bay Area citizens will appreciate a little extra air flow for a few special events coming up.

Kites make a comeback in the Bay Area in June and July with a free flying day in San Francisco in June and the return of the Berkeley Kite Festival in July.

Adults and kids alike can build their own kite to fly during the Presidio Kite Expo & Gallery Walk at the Main Parade Ground on June 13; complimentary kite kits may be reserved by emailing jcastillo@presidiotrust.gov.

Meanwhile the experts will turn out for the Berkeley Kite Festival, which takes place at the Berkeley Marina on July 25-26, is now in its 30th year. Like the Presidio gathering, free kite making and instruction are also central activities of the event.
