Knife Wielding Woman Causes Wild Scene

Father, workers fight back to subdue babbling woman

A 47-year-old woman was arrested at a Grocery Outlet store in Vallejo Saturday after allegedly holding a 7-year-old boy at knife point, according to Vallejo police.

Dana Stevenson, a Vallejo resident, was arrested after police received reports at about 12:10 p.m. of a woman wielding a knife and trying to stab people at the store located at 66 Admiral Callaghan Lane, police  said.

Stevenson allegedly walked up to the boy who was standing with his family in the produce aisle, and grabbed the boy around the neck while taking out a steak knife, according to police.

While holding the knife to the child, Stevenson began rambling about the Chinese Mafia and Michael Jackson, police said.

The boy's father grabbed Stevenson from behind and forced her arms up and away from the child while the mother grabbed her son and grabbed the suspect's hand that held the knife, causing her to suffer a laceration to the  palm of one of her hands, according to police.

Store employees and other customers in the store helped detain Stevenson until officers arrived to take her into custody.

The boy also suffered minor injuries, including abrasions and redness to his neck, and was shaken up by the incident, police said.

The family of the child said they did not know Stevenson, who was booked into Solano County Jail for felony child endangerment, kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
