Current and former 49ers joined Santa Clara police officers for the Law Enforcement Torch Run at Levi’s Stadium on Thursday. The run was part of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games kick off.
The Flame of Hope was carried by runners through the stadium concourse during the event.
"Studies show that Special Olympics athletes do better at school and work, have stronger family relationships, make more friends, and are more prepared to live and work in their communities," said David Solo, Special Olympics president.
The games are expected to bring about 7,000 athletes from around the world. The official kick off is on July 25 in Los Angeles.
