LGBT Pride Events Around the Bay Area

EVENT: Books Inc. Presents David Boies & Theodore B. Olson at the SF LGBT Center
DATE: June 25
TIME: 7 p.m. 
LOCATION: The SF LGBT Community Center, San Francisco (1800 Market St.)
DESCRIPTION: Books Inc. and the SF LGBT Community Center are celebrating the 1st Anniversary of the overturning of Prop 8 with two of the people who made it happen, David Boies and Theodore Olson.

EVENT: San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus Pride Concert "Dazzle"
DATE: June 25, 26, 27
TIME: 8 p.m.
LOCATION: Nourse Theatre, San Francisco (275 Hayes St.)
DESCRIPTION: The Great White Way heads west for a lavish spectacle of show tunes, performed as only SFGMC can do. DAZZLE features beloved songs and popular hits from shows like Avenue Q, Dreamgirls, Fiddler on the Roof, Kinky Boots, Oklahoma!, Rent, South Pacific, Sunday in the Park with George, West Side Story and more. Guest Star: Tony Award winner Laura Benanti.

EVENT: Hella Gay Comedy Show
DATE: June 26
TIME: 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.)
LOCATION: Magnet Center, San Francisco (4122 18th St.)
DESCRIPTION: This comedy show marks the final night that Hella Gay Comedy Show will be performing. The show will feature top LGBT stand up comedians to close out the Hella Gay Comedy Show series on SF Gay Pride weekend. Cake and ice cream will be provided after the show. FREE

EVENT: Drag Yourself to Pride
DATE: June 27
TIME: 9:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Mezzanine, San Francisco (444 Jessie St.)
DESCRIPTION: Dress like a Superhero or Sexy Villain; $10.00 Door Cover; $5.00 if you bring a wig, dress (size 8 or higher), or heels (size 10 or higher); All door cover, wigs, dresses, and heels will be used for “The Amazing Drag Race” at Burning Man.

EVENT: Pink Triangle Installation & Commemoration
DATE: June 28
TIME: Installation 7-10 a.m.; Commemoration 10:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Twin Peaks
DESCRIPTION: Annual commemoration of the gay victims who were persecuted and killed in concentration camps in Nazi Germany starting in 1933 through the end of WWII. The pink triangle symbol has since evolved into an important reminder for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community of the continuing homophobia and inhumanity against them and other repressed minorities around the world. The side of the Twin Peaks north hill facing the Castro district and downtown San Francisco is transformed into a memorial by installing a giant pink triangle made up of dozens of pieces of pink canvas that can be seen from miles away during SF Pride weekend each year.

EVENT: EDEN Pride Party 5th Anniversary
DATE: June 28
TIME: 9 p.m.
LOCATION: Mezzanine, San Francisco (444 Jessie St.)
DESCRIPTION: Hosted by Jessica Clark of HBO’s True Blood, Ari Fitz of the Real World MTV EX-plosion with Crowd Control courtesy of Rose Garcia of the The Real L Word. The party’s DJ’s include Val G, Lady Ryan, Motive, and Angie Vee. Photobooth and body painting activities will also be available. To celebrate the night, there will be a free champagne toast at midnight. Ages 21+

EVENT: SF Pride Parade
DATE: June 29
TIME: 10:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Embarcadero, San Francisco (begins at Market & Beale and ends at Market & 8th Street)
DESCRIPTION: Pride weekend’s highlight is the Pride festival and parade. The parade will feature gay pride leaders and community members. The parade is meant to represent a cause, message, or belief in front of a diverse audience. This year’s theme is Color Our World with Pride. FREE

EVENT: Silicon Valley (San Jose) Pride Festival
DATE: August 17
TIME: TBD
LOCATION: Discovery Meadow in San Jose
DESCRIPTION: For almost 40 years this local festival has honored the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community and its allies. Held annually, festival attendees come from all over the Bay Area to participate in the festival and related events. It is the largest LGBT event held in the South Bay.
