LinkedIn Expansion Prompts Dance Studio Closure in Mountain View

A ballroom dancing studio that draws 400 students a week in Mountain View is set to shut down.

The reason for the closure appears to be connected to networking website LinkedIn's plans to build a new campus along Shoreline Boulevard. Renderings of the new campus show it stepping all over the dance studio.

LinkedIn purchased the property in need to expand office space for 8,000 workers.

The dance studio is tucked away in an office park, off Bayshore freeway.

Not everyone is blaming LinkedIn for the studio having to shut down.

"LinkedIn has been great," said Brigitte Levy, who manages Cheryl Burke night. They've given us extension, so it could've been a lot sooner that we had to leave."

It is still undecided on what the next move will be for the dance studio.

"We're in Silicon Valley -- technology," said Sherri Burke, who co-owns the studio. "We may want to try something that gives us a wider reach."
