Magnitude 3.0 Earthquake Strikes in Castro Valley: USGS

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 shook the East Bay on Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck at 11:52 a.m. and was centered about a mile northwest of Castro Valley along the Hayward Fault, the USGS said.

People who felt the temblor said it was a quick jolt, and those working in shops along Castro Valley Boulevard reported seeing the windows rattle and feeling the floor move.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
