Man Accused of Stabbing Three People, Injuring Officer in Oakland

A police officer was injured while arresting a knife-wielding suspect who had already stabbed three victims in an Oakland home early Thursday morning, police said.

The suspect's brother called police at about 3:30 a.m. to say his brother was acting erratically, armed with a knife and attacking other people in the home in the 3700 block of Harrison Street.

When they arrived, the officers found three people with various injuries, including stab wounds, lacerations and a bite. Two of the victims were restraining the suspect.

The four officers, who were trained in crisis intervention techniques, ordered him to drop the knife but he refused. They hit him with a Taser stun gun and struggled with him until they had him restrained, police said.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation. One of the wounded victims was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

One of the officers suffered a minor injury in the struggle with the suspect and was treated at a hospital.
