Man Arrested for Firing a Gun at Napa Police Officers

Police in Napa on Thursday arrested a man in connection with firing a gun at officers.

On Thursday at 5:22 p.m., officers with the Napa Police Department responded to Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Napa on a call about a man having found a rifle in the park.

Police said the man had called the dispatch center three times prior and had requested specific officers by name.

Responding officers located the man and recognized him from prior calls.

As the officers attempted to speak with the man, the situation escalated, and the man raised a semi-automatic handgun and fired at the officers, police said.

No officers were injured during the incident.

Two officers at the scene shot the man with beanbag projectiles and were able to take him into custody.

The officers did not fire their service weapons during the incident.

he man was transported to the hospital, treated for minor injuries and was released from the hospital.

Police have not released the name of the suspect arrested.
