Man Hops On Front of Bus in San Francisco – Literally

A man hopped onto the front of a Transbay Terminal bus in San Francisco on Tuesday morning, getting a ride, at least for a short time, staring into the face of the driver who was knocking on the window to get him off.

That’s what Yvonne Pham, 30, witnessed at 8:36 a.m. at Market and Second streets, on the way to her job at a law firm. She snapped a few photos showing the man, dressed in khakis and a green backpack, standing on the bicycle rack platform of the 7R bus. She saw the driver knocking on the window, as if to get the man off, and an oncoming Muni driver, also trying to help. She said the man was just staring blankly into the air.

“You don’t see that every day,” she said.

Paul Rose, spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, said the man is a semi-regular at this behavior, and the operator recognized him. Still, the man hopped off of his own accord before authorities could reach him.

The passengers on the bus experienced a 12-minute delay, he said.
