Man Fatally Shot in East San Jose, Suspect in Custody

Shooting was San Jose's 35th homicide of 2013

UPDATE: A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night in East San Jose, police said today.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was known to the victim, who police have identified as 46-year-old Anthony Zumini, of San Jose, according to Sgt. Jason Dwyer.

At 9:39 p.m., police received reports of a person shot in the Alum Rock neighborhood. When officers arrived on scene they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim, who was found by officers laying in a walkway between two homes, was pronounced dead at the scene and had at least one gunshot wound, police said.

The neighborhood of the shooting is normally a quiet area, police said.

The shooting death marks the city's 35th homicide of the year. Police do not know if the shooting was gang-related.
