San Jose police officers are involved in a standoff with a man who brandished a machete, then holed up in his apartment, according to a police statement.
Officers were dispatched at 2:47 a.m. for a loud music disturbance. When they arrived, a 44-year-old man threatened them, then retreated into the apartment.
The Crisis Intervention Team has contacted the man, who refuses to cooperate. He's describe by neighbors as "the friendly crazy guy." Police believe he had been drinking before he threatened the apartment complex security guard.
Residents of adjacent apartments have been evacuated and no injuries have been reported, the release reads.
