Chef and restaurateur Michael Mina's new San Francisco test kitchen will experiment with different concepts before deciding on a permanent theme for a restaurant.
He'll begin later this month with an exploration of the intersection of California cooking with Israeli, Lebanese, Turkish and Egyptian influences; Mina himself was born in Egypt. Eater SF reported that this concept has been named Middle'terranea.
The test kitchen and future restaurant is located in the Marina District at 2120 Greenwich St. The 1600-square-foot space was previously home to Cafe Claude.
Dinners will be served Wednesday through Sunday nights beginning July 23 for about three months and will cost $45 for five courses served family style. Sign up for the test kitchen mailing list to be informed when and how tickets will be available.
Mina already operates several permanent eateries in San Francisco, including the namesake Michael Mina, RN74, Bourbon Steak, Clock Bar, PABU Izakaya and The Ramen Bar and Arcadia in San Jose.
