Michelle Obama Taps Into Bay Area ATM

Tuesday will be the First Lady's first solo visit to the Bay Area.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be in the Bay Area this week raising money for the Democratic Party and her husband's reelection campaign.

Michelle Obama will host a breakfast event Tuesday at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. Then she will drive over the bridge (no helicopter) for a lunch fundraiser in the City.

The Claremont event was sold out as of Monday morning. There were still tickets to the San Francisco lunch at the Julia Morgan ballroom.  The cheapest seat will cost you $2,500.

The breakfast spread is going to be prepared by the Bay Area's top chef Alice Waters. Waters and the Obamas are close. You may remember she helped the first family plant a garden in the backyard of the White House. Waters will serve a locally produced breakfast of course.

According to the Bay Citizen the meal will feature organic ingredients from local farmers and purveyors and will specifically include garlic toast.

The First Lady is also raising money in Southern California this week. She was in Pasadena for a lunch on Monday. She will also attend a Democratic national Comittee dinner in LA before flying up to the Bay Area Monday night.
