Mountain View is quickly becoming a company town.
And the city in the heart of Silicon Valley isn't entirely sure if it wants to become Googleville, USA.
Google has been housed in Mountain View since 1999. But in those 15 years, the company has grown -- and that is an understatement.
"Some days it feels like Google is taking over the world," The Verge reported, and it's not just the company's robots, self-driving cars, and "very own airport" it leased near the Googleplex.
As of 2013, Google employed almost 10 percent of Mountain View's workforce and owned over 10 percent of its property, Verge reported.
Google is slated to become more than a tenth of Mountain View -- as soon as a new 1.3 million square foot campus opens.
Having Google in town is also not a "cash cow" for tax revenues, according to City Councilman Mike Kasperzak.
Google may double its workers to 24,000 Mountain View employees, which means that the residents who say they can't get out of their driveways because of all the traffic the company has brought may get no relief.
