The Mountain View Police Department -- known for the occasional mountain lion sighting and capture -- came to the rescue of some very tiny creatures Wednesday morning: ducklings.
A city of Mountain View utilities department employee spotted a flock of ducklings crossing the road behind the police department, police spokesperson Sgt. Saul Jaeger said.
Nine of them separated from the flock and got caught in a drain. The others went under some parked cars, Jaeger said.
"With the help of some other police department staff, we were able to capture all nine ducklings safely," Jaeger said. "After being coddled over in our records unit for a bit, they were turned over to the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority. Mom was nowhere to be found unfortunately."
Here's a video of the ducklings chirping.
