Milpitas police have arrested a 30-year-old homeless man who they say was angry at his girlfriend and allegedly destroyed church statues while in a naked rage.
In a statement, Sgt. Raj Maharaj said police arrested Michael David Vickroy, on Thursday about 5:30 a.m. after hearing reports about a “naked male” destroying property at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Main Street.
When officers arrived, they found several statues, candle holders and planters had been destroyed inside and outside the church estimating the damage to be about $20,000, Maharaj said.
They found Vickroy in the south parking lot of the church without any clothes on. Officers learned that Vickroy had a previous argument with his girlfriend and “took his anger out on items at the church,” Maharaj said.
He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on a felony charge of vandalizing a church.
