Napa Computer Science Teacher Arrested for Possession of Child Porn on His Computer

Napa police have arrested a teacher on suspicion of possessing child pornography on his computer.

Michael Stanley Ryder, 54, of Napa, a computer science teacher at First Christian School at 2659 First St. in Napa, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a search of his residence in the 2100 block of Unbridled Court, Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

The search stemmed from a tip police received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving a resident on Unbridled Court who was uploading child pornography to a cloud-based data storage account, Peecook said.

Ryder, who formerly taught at other schools in Napa and Vallejo, was arrested on one count of possession of child pornography, Peecook said.

Napa police are examining evidence recovered at Ryder's residence and he might face additional charges, Peecook said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Todd Shulman at (707) 257-9575.
