National Guard Team Arrives From Southern California to Join Wildfire Fight

The California National Guard on Wednesday night flew in reinforcements for battling the massive wildfires in the North Bay.

At the request of Gov. Jerry Brown's office, the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team from Southern California sent 120 personnel on two planes that touched down at Moffett Field in Mountain View about 11 p.m.

They were expected to load up on buses and continue immediately up to the North Bay to provide support in various wildfire efforts.

The team will help set up shelters, assist with logistics, help people get to shelters and basically help any way possible in the areas of transportation, medical evacuations and logistics, a team captain said.
