$19 Million in Silk Road Bitcoins Head to Auction

The U.S. Marshals Service will auction off 50,000 bitcoins that were seized in October 2013 from alleged Silk Road kingpin Ross UIbricht, NBC News reported Monday. The cache of digital currency — valued around $19 million — will be auctioned off in two rounds. Another 94,341 bitcoins will be auctioned in the coming months, the marshals said.
