Pipeline Upgrade Work in Oakley Likely to Cause Natural Gas Smell: PG&E

Residents in the Oakley area may smell the odor of natural gas as PG&E conducts planned safety work as part of a pipeline upgrade project.

Utility crews will be working on the pipeline Sunday at Bridgehead Road, officials said.

People may smell gas at homes or businesses near the job site depending on wind direction, but the gas will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and will not be harmful, according to PG&E. 

Service outages are not expected to occur during Sunday's work. The project is scheduled to begin before noon, and should be complete within an hour of starting, PG&E officials said.
