San Francisco and the East Bay are not known as centers for halal cooking, which is food that is permissable to eat under Islamic law. But that's about to change.
Manhattan's popular street food cart The Halal Guys is being steadily franchised outside of New York and one franchisee plans to open locations in San Francisco and at UC Berkeley this year, according to Foodbeast. Locations have not yet been secured.
The Halal Guys is a cult favorite on the East Coast for its gyros, chicken and rice, drawing consistent lines.
Franchisees for The Halal Guys are also planning locations for Southern California, Las Vegas, Texas, Washington DC and the Philippines.
We are proud to announce that we will be coming to Southern California. http://t.co/QH0dSrT1Ef via @foodbeast — THE HALAL GUYS (@HalalGuys) February 19, 2015
