Amid Halloween festivities at California's Great America in Santa Clara Saturday night, reports emerged on social media of an active shooter at the park, but Santa Clara police confirmed no shots were fired.
The theme park also tweeted about the incident that was first reported at about 10:15 p.m.
"There were unsubstantiated reports of a gunshot at the park. Park authorities and on-property police officers worked together to quickly respond to confirm guest safety, and to eject a group of disruptive teenagers from the park. The park has returned to normal operation," the tweet read.
A strong-arm robbery had occurred, a fight ensued, and someone screamed there was an active shooter, police said Tuesday. Immediately after the incident, unconfirmed reports of an active shooter flooded social media.
Meanwhile, 200-plus calls for service were fielded by emergency dispatchers in relation to the incident, police said.
The strong-arm robbery victim suffered minor injuries and had $420 of personal property stolen, police said. The suspect in the robbery has not been apprehended.
A different incident back in July happened at California's Great America, when a shooting did occur. In the July incident, a woman was struck by a bullet, but no life-threatening injuries were reported.
