Nonstop Air Canada Flights From San Jose to Vancouver Debut

Nonstop flights from San Jose to Vancouver launched on Monday, giving fliers an opportunity to visit the country's neighbor to the north.

The Air Canada flights last about two hours on average between Mineta San Jose International Airport and Vancouver International Airport.

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo attended a launch event Monday morning for the new connection along with Silicon Valley business leaders and representatives from the Consulate General of Canada in San Francisco and Air Canada.

The first flight from Vancouver arrived in San Jose at around 11 a.m. Monday, and the inaugural trip departing from San Jose departed about 11:35 a.m.

The trip will be made twice a day on a Bombardier CRJ-705 that seats 75 people, airport officials said.

The new connection is one of many new direct international destinations at the San Jose airport that started in the past year. The airport started direct service to London's Heathrow International Airport last week.
